Hannah Hankins began brewing her own mead last fall and is currently working on a cranberry orange batch for the holidays. In her writing, she conflates desire and food.



Hallie Brew is a senior studying pre-law. She is in an intermediate poetry class at UNC and writes frequently about mental health. Her mother was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Syd is a junior transfer student from California. She writes about queerness, longing and memory. “Coming into a college midway through is weird,” she said. “I definitely feel like an outsider.”



Campbell Warren is a junior English major at UNC. She predominately writes fiction in the southern gothic genre, crafting stories based on overheard phrases that spark her curiosity. “Sometimes my mom will say something odd and I’m like, man, that’s a story,” she said.
